Employers get tax breaks. These people are more likely to be on time, want to work, less likely to steal, and not want to go back to prison. Part of their parole is to keep a job.

Piano moving companies, I sell pianos and I swear every one of them are convicted felons, I think that the owner of the moving company hangs out at the prison gate and hires them as they are released.. LOL

I used to work next door to a big furniture chain, Levitz, now out of business, their movers were all felons too! The stories we used to hear about these guys going to homes were awful-- On day, one of them was fired so he went onto the parking lot and set 3 trucks on fire..  BIG furniture moving trucks. He didn't even care, they just arrested him and sent him back home to his prison cell.. They prefer being there anyway.  

Tyre Service companies here in Australia. I would estimate 8 out of 10 of their employees are ex-cons. I think the employers get a govt.rebate for hiring them. They are usually good workers & seem to know their job.
