You may have noticed club penguin is NOT in 3d, but if they didn't use the 3d thing it wouldn't be unique because you couldn't REALLY move.

Club Penguin started as a name of penguin chat 3, created by rocketsnail studios, AKA rsnail, which is basically a company designing in games, like penguin chat 3.

A few years later Disney immediately noticed the amount of people playing the game, and bought the game for over $6,000,000!!
So then it came to the club penguin today.
