The mRNA attaches itself to a ribosome on the rough ER. Then tRNA transfer specific amino acids to the ribosome and the mRNA in the exact sequence specified by the mRNA. At the beginning of the mRNA sequence that's being built, the ribosome moves the mRNA along, all the while tRNA's are transferring the correct amino acid to each codon or 3-base sequence along the mRNA strand. I think of it as if the tRNA "plugs" into each "outlet" on the mRNA, like in electricity. The amino acids are then bonded to the mRNA by enzymes, then the tRNA releases to go and pick up another amino acid to continue building the chain. When the last codon on the mRNA is "read'', or the last amino acid has been transferred, the chain, which is now a specific protein, is released. Hope this what you were looking for!
