    Green/Starboard, Red/Port or if you like, Green/Right , Red/Left ! so at night you can  tell the direction a boat is travelling. There are many rules of navigation but a basic 'ditty' is Green to Green, Red to Red all is clear go ahead............................I think . Happy sailing , Jonah.
