As far as I know you can't download google chrome to your computer more than once. So if your computer says it's downloading and you already have the software on your computer it will just get updated if necessary.
But if you want to be sure and uninstall the unwanted google chrome versions from your computer you need to:
Go to your menu bar that’s located in one of the bottom corners of your screen
Go to “Control Panel”
Go to “Add/remove program” (Windows XP) or “Programs and features” (Vista)
A List of programs installed on your computer will appear
Choose the program you wish to uninstall and with the right mouse button choose uninstall.
