Have a coop, have a fenced in yard. Have brood hens and a rooster, knowledge on what feed they need and compliance with the town you live in that you can have them.

Buy female chicks from a reputable breeder. Make sure they have been innoculated. They should cost about ?1.50-?2.00 each.If you don't have a proper electric 'brooder' buy a broody Silkie Bantam They make great surrogate mothers.
Buy a proper Chicken coop with a run. Buy the best growers mash (Chick Food) and the correct size woodchip for bedding. Keep the coop clean (Spotlessly). Plenty of water and food daily. Lock all the chickens away at night even in an urban area. Protect from foxes, dog, cats etc.
Buy lots of egg boxes!!
Good husbandry = Healthy birds = Lotsa Eggs :)
