      It sounds more like a cable has become unattached behind the lever in the dashboard that switches from windshield to room.See if you can get the cover plate off the panel where this control is & try to inspect it visually.There is a cable with a little loop on the end that slips over a peg on the back of the lever.(Usually)!


      If it is connected at this point it may mean the cable has broken.See if you can pull it thru.
