A meniscus tear (or 'torn cartilage', as some doctors refer to this fenomenon) is a condition in which one or more of menisci are torn. Menisci are wedge-shaped fibrocartilage strips located in knees. There are two menisci in every knee.
Such tear may occur during walking, squatting or other simple sport activities, and also as a result of traumatic force on the knee during basketball playing, football or such sports.
