Which owner

There has been slavery since the dawn of civilization and is active in the USA and probably all other countries globally. Just because a slave is not shackled does not make them any less a slave. Anyone held, restrained or directed by fear is a slave to consequences. We have lived with our fear of consequences all this time and still, there has been happiness and expressions of love. “…slaves  killed by owners? 

slaves were listed with live stock, they didn't keep a number on killed live stock.

It's crude but true.

Slaves were property, they cost money, lots of money. Is a farmer going to go and buy a new pickup truck and beat the s**t out of it? NO. They weren't treated as equal to whites but to say that all slaves were treated miserably can't be true. After they were emancipated most chose to stay with there previous owners. A bad time in Americas history no doubt, but we are shown pictures of blacks hanging from trees, and a multitude of other evil doings. These things did happen, was it the norm? NO.
