Probation officers supervise offenders that are released from prison or those who are sentenced for non-custodial punishment, such as community service. Their duty may involve presenting reports on offenders and recommend courts of law regarding the sentencing of offenders, investigating offenders' background, meeting the offenders and interviewing them in order to learn how probation affects them, and to advise them, if needed, enforcing court orders, referring offenders to social assistance.
