current rate of gold ex.. $1497 x gold content ex. 14k is .585 x .90 (the middle man keeps at least 10%) divided by 31.1 (grams in an ounce. That give you the price per gram for scrap
ex. $1498 (per ounce) x .585 (14k) x .90 (percentage you get) divided by 31.1 (grams in an ounce)
$25.36 per gram at $1497 an ounce
the price of an ounce changes from minute to minute (see kitco.com for realtime quote)
This doesnt mean that you will get that from a pawn shop because they only give what they have to & they know people are desperate or they wouldn't be selling. I was in Tucson last week & they were paying $20 a gram so you can see they keep an extra $5 a gram below scrap (just because they can)!
