If you mean prescription types, no, you need to see a Dr. first. If you mean the "cheaters" type like you can buy at a Drug store, no you do not, just go in and try them on for reading, pay attention to what number works best for you. You now have the information needed to order them, assuming that you didn't like what they had at the store.
