Exempt Funds
Certain types of funds are exempt from collection and garnishment. Such funds include Social Security disability, retirement income, public and private pensions, workers' compensation, veterans benefits, alimony, spousal and child support, public assistance and unemployment benefits. A creditor cannot collect debt payments from these types of income. A debtor can pay his debts with these funds. A bank must release these funds from a garnishment freeze upon receiving an exemption claim from the account holder

A court order must be issued to seize an account. You must be advised that this action can and will take place if arrangements to satisfy a debt are not made.
