      black is supposed to be the absence of color. go in a cave . you can't see a thing!

        HI COLOUR IS WHAT OUR EYES SEE WHEN IT IS REFLECTED INTO IT


        WHEN YOU SEE RED THE OTHER COLOURS HAVE BEEN ABSORBED SO YOU ONLY SEE THE RED PART OF THE SPECTRUM SO WITH THE OTHER COLOURS WHEN YOU SEE BLACK ALL THE COLOURS HAVE BEEN ABSORBED THEREFORE THERE ARE NO COLOURS ITS NOTHING TO DO WITH BEING IN THE DARK AS SUGGESTED BY THE OTHER ANSWER
