The U.S.-led occupation of Japan in the post-war years accelerated Japan's familiarity with Western characters. By the link time Disneyland Tokyo opened up in 1983 Disney characters like Mickey Mouse were household names. Seiko produced an officially licensed "Disney Time" line that featured cartoon characters on the dial in a similar style as the link familiar Mickey Mouse watches produced link by Ingersoll.
