The discharge of sewage into a stream or ocean is wasteful because the practice can so degrade the environment that everyone's life and livelihood may be eventually destroyed by the practice. Leaving trash alongside the roads makes traveling into, a scenic drive through the bottom of a garbage lined ravin. A wasteful distraction.
