In order to create a Yahoo mail icon on the desk top (a short cut) you may do as follows:
minimize all the open windows so that you see your desk top, and right-click on the desk top. On the menu that appears choose 'New', and then 'Short cut'. On the text box that's in the dialog box that opens, type the Yahoo mail address (https://login.yahoo.com/config/mail), click the 'Next' button, then type the name you wish to give the short cut, and click the 'Finish' button.
