HI  WHEN AN OBJECT IS REFERRED TO AS LENGTH AND WIDTH IT IS USUALLY ASSUMED THAT THE OBJECT IS GOING AWAY FROM YOU WHICH IS THE LENGTH AND THE WIDTH GOES LEF TO RIGHT OR RIGHT TO LEFT WHICH EVER YOU PREFER SO IF THE OBJECT IS A RECTANGLE AND THE LONGER SIDE RUNS AWAY FROM YOU THE LENGTH IS LONGER THAN THE WIDTH BUT IF YOU TURN THE RECTANGLE 90 DEGREES THEN THE WIDTH IS WIDER THAN THE LENGTH AS YOU PROBABLY KNOW WHEN BOTH SIDES ARE EQUAL WE CALL IT A SQUARE
