    can the ccfl lamp surrounding a lcd screen on a laptop be easily fixed by a electronics hobbyist?

    the lamp initially lights up but flickers then quits, this happens in both AC and DC operation.

      The only way to know is to take it to a shop and ask them. I would take it to a computer repair shop.
