    The U.S. National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association report that 60 to 90 beats/minute is normal for teenagers at rest.
    The highest heart rate a 16 years old's heart can safely beat per minute is about 200 to 205.
    A way to calculate a teen's normal heart rate: Subtract the age from 220 and multiply by 0.5 and 0.7 to find the lower and higher pulse range for moderate exercise, respectively.
