Man swallows £9,000 diamond at Sri Lanka gem show
A Chinese man arrested for attempted theft after swallowing a diamond worth nearly £9,000 at a gem exhibition in Sri Lanka on Wednesday will have to undergo surgery to remove the stone, police said.

This very same thing happened here a month or two ago. The police put him in a dry cell, til the evidence was collected. Supposedly, the story was picked up globally.
