Can the Spouse of a deceased property owner complete an Affidavit of Heirship on his or her own behalf or does it need to be done by a third party?

If the property was left to you or your name is on the deed, you can do whatever you want to do with it, including filling out the affidavit on your own. Just have it notarized. You will need to have your wifes name removed from the deed/title which means putting it through probate.

    You're good to go then.

you may complete it, but it has to be notarized by a notary of the publc
