sic means "Statement is Correspondents" and is placed behind misspelled quited words

I.E. They wrote in their statement the stolen vehicle "Was there (sic) brothers truck and had his purmision (sic) to use the truck"

Sic—generally inside square brackets, [sic], and occasionally parentheses, (sic)—when added just after a quote or reprinted text, indicates the passage appears exactly as in the original source.
