    why does my internet explorer not have a back button?

    There is really no reason for that to happen, I also have IE7 and I have no trouble with that, and I've never heard a case like yours, however you can check Microsoft's web site (microsoft.com/ie7) and look for help, because back and forward buttons are always on the left side of the address bar, and history button looks like a star, underneath the back and forward buttons, that button (star) also displays feeds and favorites.
    OTHER SOLUTION>> You can also try Tools > Toolbars > History or Ctrl+Shift+H, if that doesn't work I guess there is no other solution but reinstalling.
