Domestic violence affects everybody and sadly to include children in many different ways. This is specific to Americans - it has devastating effects on the lives of alli all human beings. There is help with this out there good luck to you - if you are suffering from this.

Sadly the huge number of cases of domestic cruelty, especially to children, that go undetected is deeply disturbing and it is not only an american problem, it goes on everywhere.
west-bus - so nice to hear you. Yeah you are right. I am always amazed at the amount of women put up with domestic violence. This used to be taken so lightly by the Police here - they are better at dealing with it now but as you say so much goes undetected mainly because even the women/men themselves do not report it the biggest tragedy is the amount of helpless children who witness to this and also those who are mistreated, just appalling. There have been cases of child abuse where the abuser/s get 18months or so in jail even after a child has died a light punishment and if you rob a bank or commit fraud you get life.
