      I hope they come to peaceful conclusions. US has mutual defense treaty with Japan, forcing the US to defend Japan in an event of territorial dispute.

        I suggest that Japan and China agree to a global lottery for ownership and sovereignty over the disputed territory and that China and Japan Divide the proceeds evenly between them regardless of the winner.  The proceeds and territory should be held by the UN until the split is adequate to both parties and a blindfolded drawing for the winner held at the Vatican by the Pope.
