Dolly Parton, who has included gospel music as part of her repertoire throughout her career, is about to witness the resurrection of some of her gospel recordings from the early 1970s. CMT reports that 'Letter to Heaven: Songs of Faith and Inspiration,' a 16-track disc, will be released May 4 on RCA Nashville/Legacy. The songs will also be available digitally.

Produced by the legendary Bob Ferguson, the first 10 songs on the collection are from Dolly's 1971 album, 'The Golden Streets of Glory'. An outtake from that LP, the previously unreleased 'Would You Know Him,' will also be featured. The song was penned by Dolly and her aunt, Dorothy Jo Hope.

Other tracks on the collection include 'Comin' for to Carry Me Home,' 'Daddy Was an Old Time Preacher Man' (a Top 10 duet with Porter Wagoner), 'God's Coloring Book,' 'Letter to Heaven' and 'Sacred Memories,' all written by Dolly.

Dolly Parton was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2009.
