Right click on your desk top. you should see icons there. Click to show or lock or arrange, whatever your computer offers.

Gee, I'm not a computer expert, but did you check the garbage? I just found this out, exit out of all windows until you hit the background, where your icons usually are. Right-click, and you'll get a tool bar with stuff like View,Sort by, and Refresh. Click view, and there should be a checklist with sayings like icon size, or align icons to grid. Click the one of the bottom ones, "Show desktop icons". If that doesn't work, try auto-arrange icons, that will take all the icons you have on the screen (whether you have them or not), and arrange them all on the left-hand side to grid. If that doesn't work, then your memory was wiped or someone messed with your computer.
