Shingles cannot be passed from one person to another. However, a person with shingles can transmit the virus that causes shingles to a person who has never had chickenpox or been vaccinated through direct contact with the rash.

I answered this acouple of days ago they can only be passed on due to virus in the very early days of getting shingles there is a vacine you can get to prevent in getting shingles see your Doctor if you are concerned as this virus is very painful

Here in Texas, you can get the Shingles vaccination ( it cost me $75.00 after Medicare paid). It's available at Walgreen's Pharmacy.

P.S. MY doctor does not have the vaccine, but recommended the pharmacy. She said it is recommended FOR AGE 50 OR OLDER.

I had the shingles years ago and it can be very painful....I did not pass it on to either my husband (at that time) or my three young children although I hear it can be contagious. Back then there was not a vaccine that you could purchase for prevention so if you are worried about contracting this condition I would suggest that you get the vaccine if affordable for you...good luck.
