The definition of Trapezoid is not a uniform one. Some mathematicians define it as a quadrilateral (a polygon with four sides) that has exactly one pair of parallel sides, while others define it as a quadrilateral that has at least one pair of parallel sides.
Trapezoids cannot have 4 parallel sides, because in order for a polygon to have 4 parallel sides it needs to have 8 sides (4 parallel side-pairs), and trapezoids have only 4 sides.
