It depends on which dog and cat you are comparing, some dogs are smarter than some cats and vise versa.

Well It all depends in what breed really you have in either Dog or Cat some cats are not clever yet whan there outside they become very intelegent and Dogs who have 57 mixed in them some  are really clever as its been said on the answers they are both clever in their own ways

cats are smater because they know how to catch rats and run up tress.

and they clean themselves...
