It happenned 2 years ago while I was sleeping. I had taking a sleeping pill again that eve when it happenned I was pretty groggy. I thought I was dreaming and got very scared. I thought it was a night mare. BUT then I had marks on my neck, butt and arm and they got infected. Told the doctor and went to hospital but NOBODY belived me, they just thought I was nuts. The sores are still there the doc's keep giving me antibiotics but I still feel sick now all the time.

I don't think a possum would even bite you unless you had it cornered.
A rat on the other hand would bite a sleeping person if it was hungry enough & yes it would potentially make you quite sick.
Try another doctor.It's always wise to get a second opinion.
