      god made it spin on it's axis so that both sides of the earth could have daylight and night. There's other reasons, too. God thought it all out before He created it.

           I don't think there is any other way to spin other than in a circle.

            omg nuh uh! lol you can spin in a half circle then fall down..you can spin all jaggedly..but why in a circle??????
