Hard to say, the reason it is a magnet is that all the molecules are aligned in a straight line.
If you put too much force ie: hit with a hammer in some,not all, cases the molecules would become dislodged from their north south alignment and become random ie: facing every which way and it would no longer be a magnet.

yes...but that is not slicing it and then restacking the slices
