A 9 year old can have lots of friends....some male friends and some female friends. They should all hang out together in a group and have fun. No boyfriends and no girlfriends!

Childhood is so short, let children be children. Do not rush children into adult situations.

No. The two of them  should never be left alone. But, he can come over to your house to play or watch movies if they are strictly supervised. And take  him with your family sometimes when you all go out to dinner, or to a park, or something.

I'm one of them.  A 9 year old has boy and girl friends, not A boyfriend. Any parent who condones or encourages otherwise is a fool.
