Is it a furnished apartment? How long have you been there? Why should he be responsible? If you owned property, and someone wanted to come back at you for something like this, how would you handle it? You may have brought them into the apartment...

Scratch...scratch... :(
I have a rental house and could imagine a situation like this, and who would be to blame? The tenants have more rights than the owners.. It is pathetic. One of my families were with us for 13 years, no rent increased over that time. The current ones 9 yrs. and no increases yet, however it cannot last, water, sewer, taxes have all gone sky high. And they are tenants who are not respectful of my property! Anyway...
Oh can I relate! I was also a landlord. Many tenants are disrespectful of the property as well as the other residents in the building. It's a pleasure when you get good ones. I had a few good ones and I hated to see them leave.
