International postal money order form
Recipient's name and address
Bank account/credit card information
Instructions
1
Go to the nearest office of United States Postal Service (USPS).
2
Ask the agent for an International Postal Money Order Form, also called Form MP1.
3
Fill out the form. The form will ask for the recipient's name and address. If you are sending the money order to an office, you are allowed to send it to an office title (for instance, Director to Publications Canada). Entering the transferring amount as U.S. currency.
4
Hand the filled out form, the money to be transferred and the $3.85 fee to the clerk at the post office. Your money order will then be sent to Canada and the recipient will be able to collect it from a local Canadian post office.
Online Money Transferring Companies
5
Visit the website of any online money transferring company, such as Western Union, PayPal, or Xoom.
6
Click the "Sign Up"/"Register" button when you open the website.
7
Enter your personal information, including name, address, email address, city, zip code, and your credit card or bank account information through which you want to transfer the money to Canada.
8
Click on "Send Money"/"Transfer Money" after registering on the website.
9
Choose "Canada" as the recipient's country from the drop down list and enter the amount that you want to send.
If using PayPal, you will only be asked for the recipient's email address because PayPal transfers money electronically. Recipients can access funds after opening a free account at PayPal.
If you choose Xoom, you get three options as to how you want the money to be received by the recipient; cash pickup, bank deposit and cash delivery. If you choose cash pickup, the recipient will have to go to a Xoom agent location to pick up the money. If you choose bank deposit, the money will directly be transferred to the recipient's bank account. If you choose cash delivery, the recipient will receive the money at home.
If you choose Western Union, the transferred money will be available at any Western Union agent location in Canada. Western Union gives you two options, "Money in minutes" (slightly more expensive but transfers more quickly), and "Economy" (cheaper but sends money in 72 hours).
