Hi frequency sounds that are emitted from devices used to ward off varmines etc., are so high pitched that most humans are not able to hear the sound that is being emitted. MY QUESTION IS - How would you know if they are still producing a high shrill sound?

There is no real way to test the device. Studies have shown however these devices only work temporarily as birds or rodents quickly get used to the new sound and begin to ignore it.
