Depends on where your cruising to. Most cruise ships dock in a relatively safe areas.
Drug cartels are mostly killing one another in the central and western parts of Mexico.
Still, I would be cautious and aware of your surroundings when you depart your ship.
Stay is groups and don't venture off the beaten paths most tourists take,
Have fun and enjoy your vacation.
