Probably standard way the buttons are made (and if they weren't there, the ACLU would be putting together a lawsuit).
As to the question of blind people driving, I do have a legally blind friend who drives. Yes, that bothers me. What bothers me more is the fact that there are so many people who CAN see yet drive as though they were blind.
