Amlodipine valsartan hydrochlorothiazide tablets (Exforge HCT) should not be combined with other angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) or medications containing potassium. Amlodipine valsartan hydrochlorothiazide tablets may also cause harmful drug interactions when combined with other medications. These include ACE inhibitors (such as benazepril and captopril), amiloride, amiloride-HCTZ, bile-acid sequestrant cholesterol medications, carbamazepine, eplerenone, lithium, triamterene, triamterene-HCTZ and digoxin. In addition, amlodipine valsartan hydrochlorothiazide tablets may interact negatively with prescription and over-the-counter nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAIDs) medications such as ibuprofen and naproxen sodium. You should avoid alcohol when taking this medication.

As a safety precaution, you should tell your doctor about all the medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements you take. Tell your doctor if you drink alcoholic beverages or smoke. Your doctor can make sure these do not produce harmful side effects when combined with amlodipine valsartan hydrochlorothiazide tablets.
