Unsaddle him and walk him to cool him down. Do not let him drink a lot right away if the ride got him sweating from running fast. Cool him good before allowing him to drink a lot of water. Wipe him down, removing as much sweat as you can. Rub the drying cloth down his legs a few times. This helps to sooth his leg muscles. Then turn him to pasture to graze on grass, not chomp down tons of hay because this could cause colic..
