It's my understanding that it is not good to drain pool and let it sit empty. My Son never drains his pool completely, He lets some water out, chemicals it, puts a really good cover on it and lets it go like that during the off-season. Then in the summer, he pulls the cover back, adds water, chemical and voilà, his pool is ready. So, don't drain it. What if it cracks - then where ya going to be - up the creek with no water - LOL. By the way he lives in Delaware where it is very harsh in the winter.
