          when pronounced 'emm ooh' it is modus operandi.  when pronounced 'mow' it is slang for mother.

                Motive sounds good too. To me MO means Mo money, Mo pokechops, Mo cheese. I think the meaning would be subject to the context of the qestion.

                M.O. means "modus operandi"  which is latin for.... the way a crime is carried out is teh M.O.
