While most cable companies provide their own digital video recorders, TiVos can be used with Time Warner cable service. Using newer TiVo DVRs allow the user to access TiVo's third-party services such as streaming movies, television and music. However, setting up the TiVo box to work with Time Warner cable will differ depending on the TiVo model. Also, the functionality of a TiVo box will vary depending on the model, but all TiVos will have the ability to record cable programming.
