You will have to get a Lawyer and get an appeal going.Armed robbery shouldn't carry a life sentence.But If your son fired the gun, his charges would have been attempted murder or intent to murder if that is the case he would have been given a hefty sentence.Appealing doesn't nessacarily mean a reduced sentence,some times it can lead to extra time served.Lawyers will look into it for you.
