G2 and G3 refer to Generation 2 and Generation 3 phone services / devices (i.e. 'smart phones'). The most famous smart phone is the iPhone by Apple. Smart Phones in layman's terms are hand-held computer. You can access the internet (information, entertainment, emails...), take pictures, write notes, manage your schedule, listen to music, share files, etc.
