from experience i found that people that dont care for others usealy don't care for themselves either

Life is what you make it, if someone don't care no one will care for them, unless you have a forgiven heart yourself then you will love everyone.

There are a lot of unhappy people in the world and misery likes company. Just remember that empathy rather than resentment towards unhappy people keeps you a healthier happier person.People don't just wake up miserable...maybe things happen in life that they hold on to. Maybe it's a safety wall to be mean as it keeps them from being vulnerable again.I am sad that anyone live over one day feeling miserable (we all have bad days)because life is a gift , not a given right.

I wonder if they appear to not care because they have been hurt themselves and don't want to put themselves "out there" to be hurt again?

Maybe hardened by tough experiences in life?
