      Primitive snakes — such as, pythons and boa constrictors — do have nub-like legs beneath their skins and tiny, half-inch claws that protrude out above the nubs but nestle close to their bellies near the anus.

        For leading Adam and Eve astray in the garden of Eden, God condemned the snake to crawl on his belly for eternity. Prior to this, the snake used to walk on the tip of its tail.
