You are born with all the eggs you will ever have in your ovaries and each month when you ovulate you are releasing an egg with the opportunity to get pregnant. As you get older you have fewer and fewer eggs to release so the ovaries begin to shrink and get smaller until you are past menopause when you don't release any more eggs at all, and then can't get pregnant.....so no more worries about birth control, Yeah!! Men on the other are constantly renewing their sperm production throughout their life yet it does slow in older age.
